I’ve been following Weight Watchers‘ Points Plus Program for a week now and I’m down 2 lbs. And I’m thrilled – because I lost weight, even though went out two nights and had a Disney Parks breakfast on Wednesday morning ( I weigh in on Thursdays).
While I wish it was a bit more, I have to admit I didn’t change my eating habits very much. And I didn’t exercise as much as I should have. But, I did was track what I ate. I had access to Weight Watchers’ E Tools, on my iPhone, laptop, and iPad. It made keeping track of what I was eating so easy! It automatically syncs, so I can update my food intake on my iPad, my iPhone, AND my laptop. Genius! When I went food shopping this week at Trader Joe’s on Monday, I had the mobile app open and I calculated points as I shopped. If the food isn’t listed, you use the calculator to put in the fat, carbs, fiber, and protein to find out the points plus value. My favorite lunch wrap at TJ’s is the Turkey Club. But when I calculated the points at 10 points, I quickly put it back and picked up the Pacific Chicken Salad, which was more reasonable and satisfying at 7 points.
Eating Out
I tried to stay pretty smart while eating out. I went out to Dave and Busters for a MamaDramaNY event last Saturday night. I was with my son, who barely eats, so I was trying to make healthy choices for both of us. I filled my small plate with fruits and veggies and then selected two skewers of shrimp, one skewer of chicken and one skewer of beef. For my little treat, I chose a chicken finger and four small pretzels. I ignored the cheese platter and the delicious smelling artichoke dip and tortilla chips. When I went out Tuesday night to see Annie, I took a Fit & Fresh 2 cup container of grapes and strawberries. But then I bought a fruit smoothie (which was probably more points than I wanted to use). Finally, on Wednesday morning, I attended a breakfast for Disney Parks. I was mindful as I made my choices. I chose the Banana Bread, even though I figured a slice was around 5-6 points (I tracked it as 6 points and it was good!). I put a lot of fresh fruit on my plate, chose a lowfat yogurt, 2 slices of bacon, and an egg white spinach wrap. You can eat out on Weight Watchers, but smarter choices are going to use less points (which is what you want). My goal is to be mindful. While I can’t eat everything I’d like, I can make smarter choices and still lose weight.
Do you have any tips that may help me eat out?
