Do you have a regular babysitter? We don’t and it’s definitely cost us in regards to having a regular date night. We usually use either my husband’s parents or my parents, but lately they haven’t been able to help us out. So when I was offered a trial code for UrbanSitter I couldn’t turn it down. I decided to sign up, although it did take me several weeks to even check out the site.
To get started, you’ll need a facebook account to register, which did make me a little nervous – because I don’t want to be facebook friends with my babysitter. But it’s just used to register you, the babysitters or other members can’t see your facebook account. Then you put in your address and cell phone number (which is only shared with sitters you book). Smart! Next, you add your children’s names and their birthdates. You have the option to put your child’s school to see babysitters that other families (that you may know) recommend. (Read More after the jump).
You can also select clubs you belong to so that you can be connected with sitters who work with families in those clubs. Then you pick a headshot (it selected my facebook profile pic) and you’re set! You can share your referral link (here’s mine) and you get $10 if your friends sign up, they get a $10 credit. Win, win!
I was matched with a group of babysitters and I started getting into it. It’s like a dating site, but for babysitters and parents. I saw who my friends used, and if they wrote that sitter a recommendation. While I haven’t booked a sitter yet, we will soon. We were going to go out this weekend, but my husband got sick.. Maybe in a few more weeks (says the mom that rarely gets a night on the town!)
There’s no service fee for your first payment, then it’s $7.50 after.

Thank you to UrbanSitter for giving me a code to try their service. I’ll write another post when I actually book and use a babysitter!
