It’s not every day that you go to a brand event and see your pharmacist! But that’s what happened recently when I attended Target’s Wellness event in NYC. We were invited to the “Health Haven Resort and Well-being Club” and were treated to divine hand massages, yoga demos, and “snacks and drinks by the pool”, as we learned about health and wellness products that Target was showcasing.
I am a loyal customer and use Target in College Point. So when I went to see what the pharmacy area was featuring, I was surprised (and happy) to see Gule Rahi, who is my Target Pharmacist.
I actually was grateful to her. She had gone the extra mile for me last April; I had been sick and wanted to make sure I could still keep breastfeeding my then 8 month old baby boy, Skylar. Since I had been derailed by going on an antibiotic in 2008 when my daughter was 7 months, I wanted to make sure I took something that was breastfeeding friendly. This time I did my research and came to the pharmacy armed with a printout on what I thought might be safe for continuing breastfeeding. Ms. Rahi knew that what I wanted wasn’t the best option and recommended some other things I could do. She actually did some research when I was there and we came up with other options. She checked in with me and cared. I recovered and then went on to breastfeed to 5 1/2 more months.
While my kids haven’t been on too many prescriptions yet, I like that Target has those colored rings that one of their pharmacists actually invented; each member of the family gets their own color, so less mix ups occur. Very smart, Target!
I loved one of the products they showed me, called Fitbit Ultra. This little gadget tracks your steps, your calories and your sleep!
Target also makes it very easy to eat healthy. We love their Archer Farms foods and Market Pantry lines. And did you know they have gluten free pasta too?
