It’s been a while since I’ve done a car review, so when the Mazda CX-9 was delivered to my home – I was very excited. After driving a minivan every day (which I will totally admit that I love), it was really amazing to test out a crossover SUV.
As my kids have gotten older (they are 12, 10, and 7), we have different needs. While I adore my minivan, sometimes I want a smaller car. But having three kids all next to each other is just asking for trouble – my kids will fight. There were 3 rows in the Mazda CX-9 and my kids fought who was going to sit in the third row. The only ways to get to that third row is to put the seat lever down in the second row or to let them climb in through the hatchback (if one of the two seats is down).
This is definitely for a smaller kid or a smaller adult – my small 10-year-old and 7-year-old fit fine. But when you have that 3rd row down, you lose trunk space. I was able to fit a medium suitcase, a carry-on size, a big Lands End Tote, and a garage bag full of my children’s snowboots, hats, and gloves.
And some really cool features — if I looked down while driving, ever so slightly, I could see my miles per hour and the legal miles per hour. That’s really helpful so you can really keep your eyes on the road!
Another cool feature was that it showed you the fuel economy each time you finished a car ride.
The heated seats and heated steering wheel are really cool also.
Now, I know the Mazda had some cool parking features, but I didn’t get to play with those. I wish I had the SUV just a little longer! I loved the vehicle and without a doubt, I would definitely consider this when we’re in the market for a second car.

I borrowed a vehicle from Mazda for one week. I was not compensated for this post. All opinions are my own.
