Toddlerhood is a tricky time. Your child is no longer a baby, but not yet a full-grown kid. There are all types of challenges both of you have to face, namely whether or not to use a stroller. Living in the city, I tend to do a lot of walking — but when the nearest playground is 20 minutes away, it can sometimes be difficult for little feet to keep up. This is where a scooter comes in: it gives your child a break from walking as she glides on it.
I recently received the Micro Kickboard Mini Deluxe Three Wheeled Micro Scooter. The award-winning Swiss design is made specifically for kids ages 2-5 and is perfect for my 5-year-old daughter who is very tiny and looks more like a 4-year-old. Both she and my 3-year-old son tried it and had way too much fun! My daughter, of course, figured it out immediately. She was able to use it practically as soon as she got on it. My son took a little longer, as he’s still young, but after a few days he was able to ride it well.
The Micro Kickboard Mini Deluxe Micro Scooter has a low-to-the-ground deck and lean-and-steer handle bar, which help my kids keep stable and allow them to use their body to curve left and right. These features makes gliding on the scooter all the more fun and also help them develop balance. The deck has enough room for both feet and my daughter has figured out how to glide with both her feet on.
Since the Mini Kick Scooter weighs only about 3 lbs., my daughter can carry it by herself when we cross the street. Interestingly enough, she won’t carry her lunchbox to school – she complains it’s too heavy – but the scooter? She’s very proud to carry it…I think it makes her feel like a big kid, especially when she sees older kids with their scooters.
While I can’t solve all of the problems my children encounter as toddlers, the Mini Kick Scooter has certainly solved our “stroller or no stroller” dilemma.
The mini scooter comes in four colors and is available on Amazon.
I was not paid for this post. I did receive a mini scooter for review purposes.
