Do you know a girl who loves to ‘bejewel” things, but also loves gardening? Well the Dunecraft Butterfly Glamour Garden($23) is perfect! My 6 year old daughter was so excited to plant her own garden in a terrarium and decorate it with shiny stickers and jewels. The idea is to create a garden with colorful flowers to attract butterflies. This garden helps instill love, wonder and respect for science, plants and nature. Kids do not even know they are learning.
The kit comes with:
Germination Dome
a plastic Butterfly Friend
Four Seed Packs (Alyssum 12mg packet, Jewel Weed 10mg packet, Princess Flower 35mg packet, Rainbow Plant 2mg packet),
4 Themed Plant Stakes
3 Gem Decals and Flower Gems
Large and Small Stick on Gems
White Marble Chips
Pink Princess Gravel
Butterfly Mix Seed Bomb (which we placed outside)
2 Germination Disks
Growing and Care Instructions
This is a fairly simple project, which needs some adult supervision. After a few days, the flowers started sprouting. My daughter is excited everyday to look and see the new growth.

I bought the Butterfly dome for my daughters birthday, and I must say, it is not worth 25 dollars. Not even 5 dollars. The little jewels don’t have anything to stick on to the dome with, there is no dirt, just those little disks. A tiny amount of rocks, not enough to do anything with. And it looks nothing like the box advertises. I hate it, and if I could go back and spend my money buying her something else, I would. I will not suggest this item to anyone!
