A lot of things changed when my husband started working on Long Island two years ago. He started driving to work, with our only vehicle. It meant that I couldn’t take care of a lot of things that I used to do, like food shopping. Luckily I could still get to our pediatrician, but it also meant that I couldn’t get to my general practitioner if I was sick. My doctor and all of the specialists that I see, are all affiliated with Northwell Health (formerly North Shore -LIJ) and it took me 20 -25 minutes with a car to get there. So, when I get sick now, my only option is an Urgent Care, as there isn’t even an Emergency Room near me. There are many urgent cares around these days, but how do you know how to choose the right one? Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care is the answer for me on so many different levels.
Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care is affiliated with Northwell Health, which means all my health records from my doctors and hospitalizations are there. That actually is a big deal to me. I don’t have to remember if I tell the Urgent Care doctor something in my medical history or family medical history, since it’s all there on their computer screen. Since I’m dealing with high blood pressure and a high sugar level right now, I need to make sure any doctor I see knows about that and with Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care, that would show up immediately.
Their offices are bright and modern, plus they offer online check-ins and walk-ins. You can even check their mobile site to see what the wait times are for the locations closest to you. How brilliant is that? And for us modern types, there’s free wifi, so I could stream Netflix while I wait.
Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care partners with leading health care systems to give you the best-in class network of providers for after care. They are also open seven days a week with extended evening hours in most locations. So, there’s never an excuse to not go to see a doctor. And as a parent, if I can’t take care of myself, then I can’t take care of my family.
If your primary care physician is unavailable and you don’t need the emergency room, Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care is here to offer a more emotionally gratifying experience than traditional urgent care. Every patient is treated with a superior level of care and kindness. And yes, you can even take your kids there. There have been times that I’ve had to put taking my child to the doctor over taking myself. I literally had to beg my pediatrician to check my ears one time because I couldn’t get to my regular doctor (he confirmed they were filling up with fluid and by the time I was able to see a doctor, my eardrums popped). With Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care, we could be seen in the same place and we could have both started antibiotics sooner.
There’s a Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care close to my home that’s easy to get to (it’s one subway stop away!) — and with 23 locations, there’s bound to be one near you also.

I really like how you talked about being able to utilize urgent care, particularly if your primary care physician is unavailable. There have been times in the past where I haven’t necessarily had a medical emergency, but I could have used help, and I wasn’t able to see my primary care doctor. I think that with the increasing amount of urgent care facilities, and knowing that I can go to one of them to get the help I need in any non-emergency situation would be really beneficial to me!
