You’ve heard of Big Train, right? They make blended drink mixes that you may find at your favorite restaurant or cafes. One of our favorite play places, the Kids Fun House in Ridgewood, Queens, serves their blended Iced Mochas (and they are delish). But, if you’re like me, you want to lose weight and have your blended coffee drink too. Big Train’s Fit Frappe line can do just that! I first saw this on Klout.com and was really intrigued. So, I had to sample some.
With 20 grams of protein, less than 1 gram of sugar and 130 calories, a 16 ounce beverage can be a meal replacement or a guilt free mid-day snack. Fit Frappe™ has 19 vitamins and minerals, at least 5 grams of fiber, only 3.5 grams of fat and is gluten free. It comes in 3 yummy coffee flavors, Vanilla Latte, Mocha and Espresso and two non-coffee flavors, Vanilla and Chocolate.
Making it was super easy, for an ice blended, just add 16 oz of water and some ice. You can also make it hot or over ice.
But sometimes you may not always want the caffeine, especially if it’s in the afternoon or evening — so I liked that there were two other flavors. The Chocolate still has 10 grams of caffeine, which is natural in chocolate, but the vanilla does not have any caffeine (so I’d recommend having some packets of those on hand too). The Espresso flavor, which was my favorite, had 200 grams of caffeine, and the Mocha flavor has 110 mg caffeine. Vanilla Latte has 100mg. To get a little fruit in, I added mango and raspberries to the Vanilla flavor and it was also delish – you may have to add a little more water (mine was so thick with the extra fruit). There was no chalky aftertaste and I felt fuller after drinking it.
