Are you a fan of Sarah Jessica Parker? The second season of her series, Divorce premieres on HBO on January 14. I was lucky enough to get to meet her at a recent event with The Moms, Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein. First, we screened the first episode of the second season and then we got to sit down with Sarah Jessica. Gorgeous in a royal purple dress, I was captivated by her intelligence, warmth, and graciousness. Divorce Returns for 2nd Season Jan 14 on HBO
In this season, after an explosive separation, Frances (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Robert (Thomas Hayden Church) are learning to rebuild their lives separately, even though they are still entangled through their two children and mutual friends and acquaintances. But being “free” doesn’t mean that things are easy and they are both trying to adjust.
That made me think a lot about my own family circumstances, especially growing up. We all know marriages that end and the fallout that comes. While talking to us, Sarah Jessica Parker, who is happily married, talked about how that she and Thomas Hayden Church could still be married and still be able to show the portrait of this marriage that broke down.
They did a terrific job.
Season 2 opens up with divorce papers being signed. Robert is very financially strapped and looking for work, as well as a new living situation. Frances battles insomnia, which is pure comedy gold. Diane and Nick have a new communication technique and Dallas is still having a secret fling with Robert’s lawyer, Tony.
The show also stars Molly Shannon, Talia Balsam, Tracy Letts, Sterling Jerins and Charlie Kilgore. The series was created by Sharon Horgan; season two is executive produced by Jenny Bicks, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sharon Horgan, Alison Benson, and Aaron Kaplan. Jenny Bicks serves as showrunner.
Fun Fact: Sharon Horgan is one of the creators and I love her series Catastrophe on Amazon Video.
