We’re so excited – Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood premieres today, September 3rd on PBS KIDS. Inspired by Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood stars 4-year-old Daniel Tiger, son of the original program’s Daniel Striped Tiger. Just like Mr. Rogers (but animated), Daniel will invite kids into his world, talk to the camera, and give a kid’s-eye view of his life. Aimed at preschoolers ages 2-5, they’ll learn fun and practical strategies and skills necessary for growing and learning. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood premieres Monday, September 3, on PBS KIDS with a special one-hour block of two back-to-back episodes. The 30 minute series will air daily after that (it contains two segments). (Read More after the jump).
The new series will use catchy, musical strategies that reinforce each theme and that preschoolers and parents will both sing – and use! – together in their lives. Every story includes an “imagination moment” in which Daniel plays out a preschool fantasy set to music. Then, the day’s strategy is then reprised in a full song at the end.
We recently checked out a screener of the first episode and all three of my children, ages almost 7, 4 1/2 and 2, were all mesmerized. I liked the social and coping skills that were taught via engaging lessons.
