Jessica Jones’ devil-may-care attitude. Matt Murdock’s ability to fight bad guys while being blind. Luke Cage’s super amazing strength. Iron Fist’s hella strong “Iron Fist”. Whether you were a Marvel Comic Book Series fan before – if you like watching anyone of these four superheroes, you’re a fan now. I’ll admit I really wasn’t a fan of these characters until my husband clued me in that we needed to watch them. Currently Streaming: Marvel’s The Defenders + What’s New on Netflix for September
I was HOOKED. We started with Daredevil, then watched Jessica Jones (she is my TOTAL favorite), crushed on Luke Cage (hello, Hero of Harlem), and watched fascinated as Danny Rand’s fist heated up. And now they are working TOGETHER on The Defenders. Not sure if my heart can take it!

Netflix revealed the unexpected gateway shows that can bring new fans into the Marvel Universe. According to Netflix, “One in eight Marvel Universe viewers were new to comic book based content before discovering their first heroic binge on Netflix. In a recent story in Wired, Vice President of Product at Netflix Todd Yellin admits to tricking his wife into watching Jessica Jones. A self-proclaimed anti-comic book fan, “Yellin did what Netflix often does to woo users: He played to her interests by mentioning the strong female lead and rave reviews.” Jessica Jones brings sharp humor with a bite to the table, and shows like Master of None and Orange is the New Black can be gateways into this world. And getting over a genre bias doesn’t only apply to the Marvel Universe, one in five Stranger Things fans were new to horror and one in seven Black Mirror viewers were new to sci fi before getting sucked into the dark side of technology.”

We make our kids use my oldest kid’s profile. Luckily they haven’t gone on ours yet..

We are about half way through the season and honestly, I am waiting for my moment to really click with it. I LOOOVED Daredevil and Jessica Jones, but I am not a huge fan of Iron Fist or Luke Cage. Trying really hard to get back into it!

I do love the recommendations lists on Netflix. They have introduced me to some new favorites. I haven’t watched the Defenders yet but it is on my list.
Blythe Alpern says
I actually don’t mind watching Marvel shows. I have watched Daredevil and Jessica Jones, but I couldn’t get into Luke Cage or Iron Fist. I am looking forward to watching The Defenders, though I must say I’m a little burnt out on superheroes.
Jean says
I’ve not actually seen any of the Marvel programmes, but my husband and I are obsessed with DC’s Arrow and The Flash. It’s great to find new series to love.
