Living in NYC, we try to stay active. Bike riding is something I grew up doing and loved. My 11-year-old son has been riding a bike for the past 5 years, but my 9-year-old daughter is just starting to figure out that bike riding is amazing and terrific exercise. She was a little resistant until we let her pick out her own Schwinn SmartStart bike — which is designed to fit a broad range of children and has a ton of features that are just smarter. Read on to find out why and to find out what Bike Trip Bingo is and how you could win a Schwinn SmartStart Prize pack. Why Schwinn SmartStart Bike is the Right Bike For Your Child
We went onto Amazon.com to pick out our new Schwinn SmartStart bike. My daughter had ridden an old bike of my niece’s a few times, but she wasn’t that enamored. I know my daughter well and figured she would change her mind when she got to pick out her own bike.
Ordering from Amazon was easy and since I have Amazon Prime, it was at my door two days later. My daughter was thrilled.
We ordered the Schwinn SmartStart Girl’s Mist Bicycle in Light Blue.
We took the box out to my parents’ house in Long Island. My father and my husband put the bike together easily.
We took her down to my old high school’s parking lot. My husband and I worked with her, to get her acclimated to her new bike.
Her big brother tried to encourage her.
While we still need to work on her bike riding skills, the Schwinn SmartStart Bike was easy for her to start with and we look forward to taking it for some more spins!
What sets Schwinn SmartStart apart from other bikes?
Schwinn SmartStart bikes are designed for kids and have so many amazing features. The bike is better designed for a child’s body type to create a more comfortable, ideal riding position. This includes a lighter bike frame for added control, smaller grip diameters to match smaller hands, and a more narrow pedal position to match children’s smaller hips. Other kids bikes are just shrunken down versions of adult bikes.
On a SmartStart bike, there will be less wobble while the child pedals so they will feel more confident and comfortable while going through the learning process. Plus, the seat angle was changed so as the seat is raised the reach distance to the handlebar also increases; meaning that the bike will fit your child longer.
You can shop Schwinn SmartStart Bikes at Toys”R”Us, Target, Amazon.com and Academy.
So while you are getting your child to bike ride outside, Schwinn has some fun Bike Trip Bingo Cards you can download (here), print out and take on your adventures. We’ll be taking them on our next ride!
