If you grew up in the 80’s and 90’s, Fro-yo was your thing. I’ve always been a fan! I’ve been a little obsessed with strawberries lately, so I decided to make a nonfat strawberry frozen yogurt in my Ninja CREAMi Ice Cream Maker. I couldn’t wait to taste the creamy sweetness with the delicious strawberry flavor I love. Whipping it up in my Ninja CREAMi was actually pretty easy. Remember two things though: it won’t whip up like an ice cream, so if you use 1 cup of non fat greek yogurt to make it, you are only going to get 1 cup of frozen yogurt AND you won’t need to mix it up as much as an ice cream. This recipe combines the goodness of greek nonfat yogurt with the vibrant flavor of strawberries to create a refreshing dessert that’s perfect for any time of the year. Let’s dive into how you can make your own Ninja CREAMI nonfat strawberry frozen yogurt.
Ingredients:
To taste, 3-4 strawberries, hulled and sliced. You can use frozen if you prefer.
1.5 cups nonfat greek strawberry yogurt (or you can use plain or vanilla)
2 capfuls LorAnn Strawberry Bakery Emulsion
2 tsps reduced fat strawberry preserves
Instructions:
Prepare the Ninja CREAMi Frozen Yogurt mix 24 hours before. Add all the ingredients together and mix in your CREAMi container. Then chill the mixture in the freezer for 18-24 hours. Once it’s set, then run it in the Ninja CREAMI on the Frozen Yogurt setting (which is a 5).
You may need to run it though another mixing cycle, but don’t do more than that (unless you’ve added guar gum or sugar free jello pudding mix in it to bind it better.
Unlike the regular low fat ice cream I usually make, I didn’t add any stabilizers to this so it didn’t get as firm of a texture. However, it had a soft serve texture like the frozen yogurt I adore.
This will store well in the freezer, use a insulated food container. I like this one by Hydrapeak.
Conclusion: With just a few simple ingredients and the help of the Ninja CREAMi, you can create a delicious batch of homemade strawberry frozen yogurt that’s sure to impress your family and friends. Whether enjoyed as a refreshing dessert on a hot summer day or as a sweet treat any time of the year, this creamy delight is bound to become a favorite in your household. So why wait? Grab your ingredients, fire up your Ninja CREAMi, and get ready to indulge in the irresistible goodness of homemade strawberry frozen yogurt!
