As a busy parent, I rarely get any time alone, so when I was invited to a Fun Mom’s Night Out with Momtrends, Parents Magazine and Parents Latina. Our sponsors were Clorox and Baby Dove.
When I walked in, I had been ready to grab a mocktail and sit in the corner, but once I saw the fun waiting for me, I got my second wind. There was a Perfume making table, a Bathroom Crafting Tote Station sponsored by Baby Dove, a Snow Globe Making Station sponsored by Clorox, and a Treat Making Station. I couldn’t wait to dig in.
Parents Magazine offered us a perfume making table. So Much fun! We got to make perfume based on what we liked.
I really enjoyed this and learned a lot about the many different layers that go into a scent, with bottom notes, middle notes, and top notes. I’m not an expert, but I was pretty happy with the custom scent I went home with!
I do feel like I let a lot of my creativity lapse once I had kids. I had a craft room when I first moved the the current apartment we’re in right now (15 years ago) and I used to make beaded jewelry, and make my own cards with embossed stamps. Maybe I need to add more crafting into my life?
I’d never made a snow globe before, but I was totally willing to try. Our table had an empty snow globe for each of us, and several things like snowman, woodland animals, pine trees, and assorted items to put in our snow globe.
To start, you want to use super glue to add what you want to the snow globe base. It will get messy and your fingers and table may get super glue all over it (which totally happened to me). I had a ball, crafting with my mom blogger friends and designing my own snow globe.
After I placed my trees, bird, and squirrel on my snow globe, I left it to dry and came back around 10 minutes later. Here’s where the fun started, we added a few ingredients – glycerin, glitter, little snowflake glitter, and water, added the base and screwed it tight and then we had a snow globe! I couldn’t believe how easy it was and how much glitter there was all over the table. But no worries, we had Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes.
Anyone who comes to my house knows that I ALWAYS Stock Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes in my linen closet. They have saved my home, especially my bathrooms and kitchen many times over. Messes happen, but I always have Clorox Wipes on hand to help me deal with them (#lifewithkids, right?). Whether it’s setting the stage for creative play or wiping down the counter after a messy art project with the kids, Clorox Disinfecting Wipes provide a convenient and effective way to tackle life’s messes while killing 99.9% of germs and bacteria for fewer sick days. And did you know, our kids are watching us as messes happen? When kids watch their parents tidy spaces with Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes, they learn good habits and how a clean space can lead to a successful future.
Next, we made bath totes with Baby Dove . “>
Did you know that babies are born with a living protective layer of microflora on their skin, known as their microbiome. Unique to each baby, the microbiome works to maintain skin’s health while also helping with skin’s natural protection and nourishment. Baby Dove is uniquely made with prebiotic moisture and 100% skin-natural nutrients to gently nourish your baby’s delicate microbiome.
To make your own bath tote, find a cute container (your dollar store or big box store will have this. I recommend getting a white plastic tote that can be reused and take whatever your kids throw at it. To make designs, use Wikki Stix (get some here). Your kids will have a blast customizing their own totes. Or this also makes a perfect new baby gift. Fill with Baby Dove, of course, bath-safe books, and washcloths.
Lastly, after I nibbled on some delicious sushi and snacks, I hung out with my good bloggy friends and then got to make two tasty treats with Parents Magazine’s Food.
You’ll find both of these crafts in Parents. Kids will go crazy over these Dark Chocolate Spider Donuts . Take a donut (Entermann’s will work). Then dip it in chocolate glaze and then place on a plate. Add sprinkles, fun edible googly eyes and then break pretzel sticks into two and add 4 to each side. Let it dry and let your little monsters dig in! So creative, right? Find the recipe here or in Parents Magazine’s October issue.
Next, make these Monster Fruit Skewers! Directions are also in the October 2019 issue of Parents Magazine or click here.
You’ll need skewers (any supermarket should carry them or find them here), candy googly eyes (find them here), a sticky substance like peanut butter or honey (or sun butter if there are allergies), and cut up fruit. Melon balls, halved kiwis, marshmallows – basically any fruit will work. You can even use a food grade marker to draw on your fruit!
As I went back to reality, I wish I could have stayed and played more!
