Looking for an awesome STEM activity for your kids this summer? As a parent, I love anything that will spark my tween son’s interest and have him learn. One of my goals this summer is for my son to learn to code. Recently, my son has been playing with the Pixel Kit by Kano ( MSRP $79.99). Did you know that kids can code their own LEDs with Kano’s Pixel Kit? The Pixel Kit is a creative computing kit from Kano. First, you build a light board. Then you connect it to any laptop or desktop computer, and then your child can paint with light and code, make Pixel art, animations, games, and apps, powered by buttons and sound. Kano is the world leader in creative computing for people of all ages. Kano is known for their the Computer Kit , a computer that anyone can make and learn to code with, even a 6-year-old. In 2017 Kano launched the Pixel Kit and Motion Sensor Kit, two of the most fun creative computing kits in the market.
Check out my son’s unboxing and review here:
Kano believes that people, especially kids, should create, not just consume technology. Today that power is in the hands of a very small group of people, our mission is to give everyone the skills to make technology to improve their lives and the world around them. This is definitely a mission I can get behind. My son was so thrilled that he set this up himself and could make animations and games. Seeing his success was incredible.
The Kano Pixel Kit works with any Windows or OSX laptop/PC. We had an easier time setting up with my Macbook, but I think was because I’m just not as familiar installing PC programs. What I would love to see if it can work with a tablet, because my son has his own and I want to be able to work on my Macbook!
So, what did you think? Do you think your child would love this?
