Create a Positive Self-Image for Your Child with Inspirational Nursery Rhymes

Moms can teach kids to be careful when crossing the street; to eat more veggies so that they can be healthy; to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. But some things are not so easy to teach or even to demonstrate in your own action. There are certain concepts that as a parents you want to make sure your child is aware of, but getting the point across, especially to a child, is not so easily done. The board book, Get Inspired with Max – Inspirational Nursery Rhymes – provides a simple way to fill in those area which can be challenging to explain to your kids.

Get Inspired with Max is an adorable board book by Todd and Jackie Courtney that includes 10 very short poems. Each poem is about a different topic, such as using imagery to get what you want in life (and what you don’t), encouraging yourself to succeed and taking responsibility. I received a copy for review and read it to my kids. With my older ones I was able to discuss the poems and what they mean. I pointed out how they can apply to their lives. The language that the poems is written is in very simple and even a toddler can understand it, but the concept of what they mean can be understood by school-aged kids, in my opinion. The books are meant for kids ages 0-7 and I think it’s great to start kids out as young as possible, although older kids will understand how the concepts apply to their lives.

The idea that people can generate positive things into their lives simply with their thoughts is not new to me but I have always found it difficult to describe or explain it to my kids. The poems, along with cute artwork, convey the message well, and it’s a great way to get young kids to start thinking about believing in themselves and having a positive self-image. There are other books in the series, such as ‘Be Responsible Like Max’ and ‘Giving Thanks with Max’.
