My two older kids are 9 and 7 and are moving away from cartoon-themed plates and cutlery, and more towards grown-up dishware. I can’t possibly allow them to use the porcelain dishes my husband and I use, but I want them to have dishes with a somewhat-grow-up look that are also non-breakable and safe for the environment. I also tend to heat their food in the microwave and avoid using plastic because of the toxic chemicals that can get into the food, so a plate that can be microwaved is a must. Brinware is a company that makes eco-friendly containers, bibs, placemats and plates.
I received two sets of Brinware tempered glass plates for review. Each set includes 2 dishes, along with removable slip-resistant silicon sleeves for added protection. Tempered glass is much stronger than regular glass and with the silicon sleeve the dishes are completely safe. They can be used in the dishwasher and microwave, and are BPA, lead, PVS and phthalates free.
Each plate is clear and the color comes from the silicon sleeve, so you can switch them up and have each plate be the color you want. The whimsical artwork is cute and the glass gives the plates a more grown-up look. There are many different designs to choose from, such as pandas and butterflies, plus more colors, like purple and pink.
Buy Brinware on Amazon. Prices start from $7.49 per plate.
