My little guy is NUTS about dinosaurs. So when the opportunity came to review "I Am NOT a Dinosaur! " by Will Lach and illustrated by Jonny Lambert, we were intrigued. We don't review many children's books, but my son loves anything that happened in the pre-historic time period. "I Am Not A Dinosaur" is based on specimens in the collections of the American Museum of Natural History and uses riddle-like rhymes and bright illustrations to reveal 16 creatures.

It also features an introduction from Dr. Mark Norell, Chairman of Paleontology at the Museum, who we learned about when he was featured in Time For Kids.
If your child loves dinosaurs and the pre-historic time period, then this is the book for you. It talks about other creatures, such as a dimetrodons, sabre-toothed cats, and several more that were around before, during, and after the dinosaurs.
The book features short notes, fossil photos, and an illustrated timeline to lay everything out for interested kids. The graphics are bright and engaging. Since my 5 year old is nuts about many different types of dinosaurs, he was very interested in this book.
The American Museum of Natural History in New York City is one of the largest and most respected museums in the world, with an annual attendance of five million. Since the Museum was founded in 1869, its collections have grown to include more than 33 million specimens and artifacts relating to the natural world and human cultures. The Museum showcases its collections in the exhibition halls, and, behind the scenes, more than 200 scientists carry out cutting-edge research. The Museum is home to the world’s largest collection of dinosaur fossils, and its scientists conduct expeditions each year to discover new fossil specimens.
