This past weekend I saw a show where I found myself saying “wow!” and “oh my God!” over and over again. The show was Knee Deep and it’s playing at the New Victory Theater in Times Square this coming weekend for five performances only. You don’t want to miss this breathtaking show that will keep you on your toes!
Knee Deep is performed by Casus, a contemporary circus company from Brisbane, Australia. In the show, three men and one woman use both traditional and contemporary circus techniques. The artists just keep testing limits and trying different things, for example, using various parts of their bodies to propel themselves, such as a foot or a jaw.I was particularly impressed with Emma Serjeant (pictured above) who is both a performer and the company manager. Her strength is immense. The performers practice for three hours each day and their bodies are very toned and in top shape, but what impressed me the most was their focus and inner strength. Their drive and passion was very obvious and their intensity was captivating. And they were really in tune with one another, as every step has to be calculated and controlled.
This is a show that appeals to people of all walks of life; anyone will be impressed with this show, no matter what their background is.
The performance is one hour long with no intermission. It’s recommended for kids ages 7 and up. Here’s a video with highlights from the show:
