Disney Channel’s Original Movie Teen Beach Movie is premiering on Friday, July 19 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. It’s the perfect flick for our family movie nights and my kids are so excited to watch it!
Check out the clip below!
Movie Summary from Disney Channel:
Brady (Ross Lynch of Austin & Ally) and McKenzie (Maia Mitchell of ABC Family’s ‘The Fosters’) as , surfers who take the last wave of summer, one that mysteriously takes them into a classic beach party movie, Wet Side Story. There, it’s surfers versus bikers for control of the beach hangout…and everyone spontaneously breaks into song and dance. Brady and McKenzie must try to return to present day, but their lives may be changed forever when they inadvertently change the movie’s romantic storyline — and the movie’s handsome surf guy, Tanner, is falling for McKenzie while biker girl Lela is swooning for Brady.”
This put us in a beach mood, so my family and I threw a beach party to celebrate! To help us do this, we received a cool “beach-themed” gift box from Disney Channel with a video camera and several swag items (including a beach ball,
a blowup surfboard, a t-shirt, retro cardboard sunglasses, popcorn buckets, popcorn, a beach tote and a Brady doll).
While I cooked, my husband and kids danced around.
The Food:
Our little beach bums had to eat, right? My husband cut up pineapple and I added it to the Ginger Teriyaki marinade that I bought from Trader Joe’s. I marinated chicken breast, tofu, red, yellow, and orange peppers in the ginger teriyaki marinade for an hour. Then I took metal skewers (which I found on sale for a set for $6.99 at T. J. Maxx) and arranged the food on the skewers. I broiled the skewers for around 15 minutes on high in the oven.
I served the skewers over frozen vegan fried rice from Trader Joe’s – which I sauteed with some fresh pineapple, and boiled some fresh corn. Yum!
For dessert, I fancied up a berry crumble pie from Trader Joe’s. I dotted the pie with whipped cream (using a clean small ziploc bag, I put some whipped cream in and cut a small hole in the bag and piped little circles on the pie). Then I took some chocolate “rocks” that my inlaws had bought us from Maine. Then I cut a Trader Joe’s fruit leather into a surf board and piped some more whip cream on it. Doesn’t the pie look like a beach scene?
