This year many of us are staying in on New Year’s Eve…maybe its the crazy prices, or the lack of a babysitter, or maybe you just want a relaxing night for a change. You’ve got that movie you’ve been dying to watch waiting in the dvd, a bottle of champagne is already chilled and the kids are fast asleep in their beds…now all you have to think about is the food. Whether it’s just you and your spouse or a large group, a fondue is fun, delicious and easy to make and you can just use a regular pot if you don’t have a fondue set. I found three cheese fondues that go great with a crusty baguette, crackers and even Granny Smith apple slices. And for dessert, how about melting some chocolate chips in the microwave, dipping strawberries and chilling on parchment paper in the refrigerator for an easy and decadent dessert? Whichever way you decide to celebrate, I hope you have a Happy New Year! (Read More after the jump).
Allrecipes, one of my favorites sites for recipes, has a recipe for a Basic Cheddar Cheese Fondue with a few ingredients, many which you probably already have.
Former pastry chef and acclaimed cookbook author David Lebovitz shares a recipe for a Swiss Cheese Fondue on his popular blog. Some of the cheeses may not be as easy to get but the easiness of the recipe makes it worth it.
The Four Cheese Fondue from The Curvy Carrot is a little different than your run-of-the-mill fondues and requires more ingredients but it’s definitely worth a try.
