I was lucky enough to attend the launch of Tracy Anderson’s The Pregnancy Project event last week, hosted by Christy Turlington Burns, Gweneth Paltrow and celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson. Ryan (my 6 month old and the best date ever!) and I put on our NYC best and made the pilgrimage from the ‘burbs of Jersey into the city. (Read More after the jump)
Once we arrived at the Standard Hotel at the HighLine, we were directed to the 18th floor. We were blown away by the gorgeous space with 360 degree views of the entire city. We were greeted by friendly servers with delicious cocktails and adorably bite sized
hours d’oeuvres. While mingling, I was lucky enough to chat with Molly Sims. She has a 3.5 month old, so pretty quickly we were able to bond over having newborns. She told me that ” no one told me being a mom was so hard! ” I laughed and then agreed. We then bonded over our post baby bodies. I loved how real and down to earth she was.
Gweneth (don’t you love how I am no talking about these celebs like we are old friends?) spoke to our group, sharing her vulnerabilities and insecurities post baby. Her candor and humor was truly endearing, made her seem so real and relatable. I couldn’t believe Gweneth and I dealt with the same issues! She shared how she met Tracy and how Tracy helped to transform her body and the way she relates to her body. She also voiced her support for the Pregnancy Project and introduced her dear friend Tracy.
Wondering what The Pregnancy Project is all about? Tracy Anderson, a celebrity trainer who many of you may know
for some of her recent comments that were taken out of context about women letting themselves go during pregnancy. Please look past these comments, because this project is amazing. Tracy shared she gained 60 lbs with her first pregnancy and found it hard to lose the weight after. When she got pregnant for the second time she wanted to make sure she took good care of her body, not only for her, but for her baby. Tracy has been a trainer to many stars and has helped them get their bodies back post baby, and had this idea to help transform women’s bodies and minds during their pregnancies.
During the party Tracy told us,”You can have it all and be the best version of yourself. You have to listen to yourself, but also have aguide to help you during your pregnancy. The pregnancy Project is a luxurious tool. I have the support, think of this video as a way of giving a voice and support to others. Women supporting and empowering other women is a beautiful thing. The ultimate goal of this project is to raise money to support women around the world.”
All of the proceeds from the event were going to support Christy Turlington’s Every Mother Counts, which helps to provide support, healthcare and information to mothers around the world. As a new mom, I can appreciate the value of these services and feel saddened to think of all the mothers that do not have access to the same type of care that I do.
Ryan and I left having had a great time, happy to mix and mingle with celebs and most importantly to support an important cause.
Thank you to Tracy Anderson for inviting us to cover the event
