Do you ever wonder what happens to lost toys? The Gingham family of Brisbane, Australia takes good care of lost toys. How good? Well, they have an entire show about it! The comedic show, Fluff, A Story of Lost Toys, playing this weekend at the New Victory Theater, incorporates off-beat music, silly sounds, funny videos and hysterical and unique theater to tell the story of the lost toys. I saw a performance this past weekend with my kids and for those who like something completely different, this show is a must!
The members of the Gingham family spend their days traveling all across the globe in search of lost toys. They take them home, give them names and special sounds made just for them and tuck them into bed. Toys, however, are very much like children, apparently; they don’t like to go to bed at night. What will get them to sleep? You’ll have to see the show to find out!
The show has quirky written all over it. Christine Johnston plays the main role, with Lisa O’Neill as her sidekick (although my 5-year-old thought they played mother and daughter probably because one is about 6 feet tall while the other is probably less than 5 feet). Regardless, the inseparable duo unintentionally keeps stealing the show from one another – it’s really cute to watch. Their schticks are so endearing, it almost makes the show cult-like.
Fluff, A Story of Lost Toys is playing this weekend only so be sure to get your tickets soon!
The performance is 55 minutes long with no intermission and is recommended for kids ages 5 and up.
