Crafts are my go-to activity when the kids are too wild and need to settle down. Sometimes I give them something simple like paper, crayons and scissors, but if I want to keep them occupied for a little longer than ten minutes — I need to give them something a little more sophisticated. Naturally, crafts they can do almost on their own is the preferred choice and Kiwi Crate, a monthly subscription of craft activities for kids ages 3-7, is the perfect solution for my kids. Not only does it keep them busy, it also provides a real learning experience and the result is a craft that actually lasts and doesn’t get tossed in the garbage.
When you subscribe to Kiwi Crate you receive a new box each month. Each box contains all the materials you need to create 2-3 crafts that are based on a specific theme. For example, a crate can be about dinosaurs and contain everything you need to make dinosaur fossils, tails and more. Another crate is all about gardening and you can create your own window garden and design your own pot. My kids have tried some activities from Kiwi Crate in the past and had so much fun! You can read about their experience and here.
Here’s a sample crate:The cool thing about Kiwi Crate is that adult supervision is usually minimal and the crafts are very engaging and unique, so you can be certain your kids will be really interested and focused on doing them. And it’s not just all about having fun with something new. The Kiwi Crate art projects have an educational value and are created by a team of designers, scientists and educators. The team is guided by experts in the field of education, art and psychology.
You can select a monthly subscription and be billed monthly, or choose a 3-month, 6-month or 12-month subscription where you have to pay upfront but you also get a bigger discount. Shipping is free with any subscription and you can cancel anytime. You can also add $7.95 per month for extra materials if you want another sibling to take part in the crafts. If you’re not sure about doing a subscription you have the option of buying single crates. There are also mini crates that are perfect for traveling and make great stocking stuffers.
